In a matter of days my little, big boy will be turning FIVE. It seems like such a milestone, a whole hand, half a decade, a school boy. How does that time go so fast???
We had Darby's birth certificate out the other day for his school enrolments and as his dad and I oohed and ahhed over the finer details, our jobs at the time, the location, the date, the memories , oh the memories and then to our ages. Dave was alright he was already 33, but I got caught on my own age, and couldn't take my eyes off it - 27.
27 didn't feel so young back then but I only realise now how much time has actually passed to bring my boy up to his 5th birthday, that has included me getting older.

I am wiser I am sure of that, my wisdom I am learning everyday from life lessons and from the little boy who is by my side (and now comes up to my waist). When did this all happen? When did I stop carrying him on my hip? When did I stop doing all those things you do with a baby.
Although a baby still in so many ways, he is now a boy, his own boy. Making choices of his own, and growing into an independent, cheeky, and lovely person.
This week I am getting all nostalgic, sharing a couple (well more than a couple - sorry, but I have so many) of my favorite pictures from Darbys first year. I barely had the camera not in his face (sound familiar??) and that has not changed, nor do I think it will!
What age did you have your kids? Did your child turning 5 seem like a big milestone?

Today I am linking up for FYBF over with the gorgeous Grace over at With some Grace ......
Until next time life is too short for crap coffee

Time takes on a whole new meaning when you have kids! Wow! 5! You were such a baby when you had him. I was 30 when B was born. I'm awed by younger mums. I don't think i could've done it any younger!
ReplyDeleteI know I realise how young I really was!! I am glad of that now, but at the time I felt like a baby!!
DeleteThey grow so fast!!xx
Five is a big milestone. You must be so proud of your gorgeous boy. I was 36 and 39 when I had my two girls, so you are a very young Mum in my book! You'll have a teenager when you're my age.
ReplyDeleteLove to you
Mumabulous
Thank you ... Yep as proud as any mother can be!
DeleteIts funny how we perceive age.. but I think we all have our kids at the right time for us! xxx
Gosh a teenager.. I bet those years come around so quickly!
You're making me all nostalgic and I haven't even got to that age with her yet! What gorgeous chubby cherub of a baby he was xxxx
ReplyDeleteHehe... so easy to get nostalgic looking back at those baby pics!!! I bet Maicey has changed so much since she was born! Lots more changing to do as well!
DeleteYes I had a chubby bubby! But he was a pretty adorable bub, even with his helmet on
Catch up soon xxx
Oh Jane, the photos are just so beautiful! Love the one of him sleeping in your arms.
ReplyDeleteFive is a major milestone!
I think for me the first big milestone was when the twinlets weaned themselves a few weeks before their first birthday. I tried to be brave about it but a part of me realised that time is fleeting when you have children.
A big birthday hug for your (not so) little man! xxx
It is so fleeeting - time just seems to disappear, and another year comes around and they are a year older! Its scary.. it means we are getting older too!

Nawww such a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteMy baby turning five this year was a big wake up call... plus the fact that he started school! Considering my eldest is now 17 and out of home, I wonder where all those years went. xxx
Oh yes I think starting school is a big one.. where you know they have to be independent - definitely a big wake up call - we have that next year!
DeleteDont the years just go too fast ? xxxx
